The solution contains two main components: a network of waypoints marked around the city in a similar style to the Dutch navigation support and an app that includes maps with the waypoints, the functionality of recording new routes between waypoints and classifying them by difficulty, quality and suitability for different users.
The waypoints are simple numbers displayed in lamp posts around the city, usually near landmarks or junctions.
The app has three main functions: 1. recording new routes; 2. planning a trip and 3. navigation.
The route between different waypoints may vary depending on the preferences of the user. Cyclist types are grouped by experience and needs into: tourist, families and beginners, commuters and Sports cyclists. The route suggested between waypoints may differ according to this preference.
Users are also asked to rate routes to help other users to make decisions.
